I have to say that the bouquet of orchids I received from you has been perhaps the loveliest group of dendrobiums that I’ve ever received. I meant to write earlier, but it’s all the better that I wrote now because it’s been a month already and I would say that 75% of the flowers are still in bloom! How do you do it?????!!!!!!! Wow, beautiful bouquets! Having moved from Hawai’i four years ago we’re starting to get a little homesick for just a few things. Our kama’aina gang for sure, early evening trade winds, and stopping by the farmers’ market for a handful of dendrobium sprays. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the lovely box of pure aloha! I’m writing to say how much I have enjoyed the beautiful orchids you sent to me in Washington State. The combination of big beautiful dendrobiums, deep yellow oncidiums, and the dark green ti leaves was stunning to see after several years away from home. And here’s a cool story. A few weeks after the flowers arrived I was at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival. For the first time ever a Hawaiian outrigger canoe was on display! I ran home and brought back the ti leaves for the canoe. Later that evening the boat owner/builder spotted me in the crowd (my old rubber slippers gave me away) and with a big smile asked “Did you put the ti leaves on my canoe? Where did they come from?”. He was thrilled, and made sure they were in place when the canoe ‘elepaio went on the water the next day. Mahalo nui loa!
